Privacy Policy

Cartagena Explorer is committed to protecting your privacy and believes you have a right to know what information could be collected about you.  This Privacy Policy outlines what data may be collected about you while you use the site.  Please note that this policy that this policy is subject to change, is part of the Terms and Conditions of Use of the site, and was last updated on November 10, 2018.

Visitor Experience Information

The site may collect data about your web browser, IP address, Internet Service Provider, when you visited the site, how many pages you visited, and when you left the site.  All of this information is collected anonymously and is not connected to any personal information about you (in other words I will only see you as a nameless, faceless, but valued reader of the site).  This information allows me to learn about visitors to the site and analyze how I can make it better.

Cookies

Cookies are tech lingo for small data files that are stored on your computer and can be accessed by websites.  The site may use cookies to store your preferences and record user-specific information on visits and pages you view so as to provide a custom experience by, for example, showing articles recommended for you.

Advertiser Cookies

The site may contain advertising or affiliate links from third parties.  Many of these use their own cookies.  Cartagena Explorer has no control over cookies used by third parties.

The site hopes to become an affiliate of Google AdSense.  Google, as a third party vendor, uses the DART cookie to generate ads to you (yes they know what you’ve been googling).  You may learn more about their policies or opt out of the use of the DART cookie by visiting and consulting Google’s Privacy Policy.

The site has ads from Amazon Associates Affiliates, a third party system, uses cookies to generate advertisements and links to products on Amazon.com to you.  You can learn more about it by consulting Amazon Affiliates’ Operating Agreement and Amazon’s Privacy Policy.

The site also is a member of Booking.com’s Affiliate program.  Booking.com does not use a cookie but any purchases made during the same internet session (if you do not close your browser) result in the site earning a commission after your completed stay.  You can consult Booking.com’s Privacy Policy here.

You may turn off the use of cookies from this site and/or any other, including the advertisers listed above, by changing your browser’s settings.  Doing so will not affect your access to any content published on Cartagena Explorer.
