11 Best Salento Hotels – Top Hotels in Salento, Colombia

If you’re looking for a relaxed atmosphere where you can enjoy some peace and quiet with the beautiful scenery of the coffee region (and maybe a coffee or three), a Salento hotel outside of town would also be a good choice.

The downside here is you will have limited options for dining close by (basically just at your Salento hotel) and you’ll have to arrange transportation in and out of town if you want to eat somewhere else and possibly to do some activities.

Really, though, this comes down to what you prefer for your stay in Salento.

I’ve included a combination of both options as well as some that have happy mediums on the list below.

1. Hotel Salento Plaza – Charming Hotel in the Heart of Salento

Hands down the Hotel Salento Plaza is the best of the best hotels in Salento, Colombia!

It has the perfect location for those that want to be in town, located just off the main square, where you’ll find all the best restaurants and cafes.

Rooms here are nice, with a blend between modern comfort and rustic, small town charm. The courtyard and gardens are lovely, and the hotel’s small size in a large old house makes it feel like a home away from home.

2. Hotel Kawa Mountain Retreat – Luxury Country Lodge

If you are looking for a place to stay just outside of town but within walking distance and also want something more like a luxury hotel in Salento, Colombia, then Hotel Kawa Mountain Retreat should top your list for where to stay in Salento.

Located just on the outskirts of town, this Salento, Colombia hotel has amazing mountain views. The rooms are also very nice with the perfect blend between rustic, mountain lodge vibes and luxury. Some even have old timey style round wooden tubs.

There is also a hot tub here, and reviews rave about how close it is to town while also feeling like its immersed in the beautiful coffee zone scenery.

In short, it’s the best of both worlds, and it would make an especially good Salento hotel for a romantic getaway!

3. Coffee Tree Boutique – Best Budget Hotel/Hostel in Salento

If you’re looking for a budget friendly place for where to stay in Salento but don’t want to give up quality, then check out Coffee Tree Boutique.

It’s a hostel with a number of dorms.

However, there are also private rooms here for a more traditional hotel experience (and are nice, hotels quality rooms).

Like Kawa, it’s located on the outskirts of Salento so you can enjoy terrific views while also being within walking distance of everything in town. The grounds and common areas are lovely, and the private rooms are well furnished. There are also family rooms, perfect if you’re traveling as a family or group.

Bonus: More Picks for Hostels in Salento

Unfortunately, the awesome hostel we stayed at during our visits to Salento, La Serrana, is no longer open. For those looking for budget places to stay or dorms, here are a few more Salento, Colombia hostel options:

• Viajero Hostel Salento: Viajero runs a chain of hostels around Colombia, all of which are pretty decently regarded. The Salento property is located just south of town with gorgeous views and very nice dorms as well as some privates.
• Casa La Eliana: Hotel/hostel blend with private rooms and shared bathrooms. Makes a good choice for budget travelers who want their own room don’t mind sharing a bathroom with others.
• Hostal y Camping Los Girasoles: If you want to camp in Salento, this is probably your best bet. Located in town, there are great views of the surrounding mountains from the deck. In addition to tents, there are also dorms, private, and group rooms at this Salento, Colombia hostel.
• Mahalo Hostel: Just on the edge of town, this Salento hostel also has lovely grounds and has both private rooms and a dorm.

4. La Cabaña Ecohotel – Best Lodge Near the Cocora Valley

Located on a farm along the road between Salento and the Cocora Valley, La Cabaña Ecohotel is a lovely choice for a hotel near Salento for those who want to be outside of town and immersed a bit more in nature and stay at a hotel near the Valle de Cocora.

The house is gorgeous and perfect to spend some days relaxing, reading, or writing. The rooms are also very comfortably furnished. You’re likely to feel more like your visiting a distant relative than staying at a hotel at this place.

The grounds overlook the river nearby and have gorgeous views all around. You can go bike riding or horseback riding around the grounds and surrounding area. And, of course, it offers easy access to the Cocora Valley.

5. Glamping Lumbre – Neat Glamping Near the Cocora Valley

I’ve noticed more and more glamping dome style accommodations popping up around Colombia, and Salento is no exception.

Glamping Lumbre is the spot for glamping Salento accommodations. The domes here are really pretty with awesome big windows and decks that look out over the mountains. The beds are lovely and look nice and big and comfortable. There are a few larger domes available, including a couple great looking suites.

This Salento hotel is also located even closer than La Cabaña to the Cocora Valley, practically right on the edge of the park. For something a bit unique and different, it’d make a great choice for your hotel near the Cocora Valley.

6. Ecohotel Piedemonte – Another Lovely Country Lodge

The Ecohotel Piedemonte is located west of Salento.

This is in the opposite direction of the Cocora Valley, which means it is a lesser visited side of Salento, and would also make a great choice for those looking to be a bit more immersed in nature.

The property is lovely with lots of gardens, trees, and even a small river.

Rooms are also nice and comfortably furnished. What really stands out to me here though are the cottages. There is a family cottage that could sleep up to 6 as well as a tiny one that would be the perfect romantic little place for a couple.

I think staying in one would be loads of fun!

7. Casa de las Dos Palmas – If You Want a Pool at Your Salento Hotel

Let’s get back to some Salento accommodation options in town itself.

Casa de las Dos Palmas is located right in the heart of Salento but on a less crowded and usually pretty quiet side street. There is a lovely little minipool here along with some pretty gardens with hammocks.

Rooms are also very nice, and the hotel has a neat blue decor that feels modern but also fits with the charm and colonial style of Salento. It would make a good choice for just about any type of traveler.

8. Hotel Terasu – Wonderful Luxury Salento Hotel

Hotel Terasu is really just a lovely property.

In fact, if I was going to Salento for a romantic visit with Susana, and wanted to be in town, this would probably among my finalists for choosing where to stay in Salento.

It’s located just on the southern edge of town.

Set in a large house, it’s modernly and comfortably furnished. There are great mountain views around the property, and you’re still within easy walking distance to the heart of town.

9. Rancho San Antonio – If You Want a Country Lodge with a Pool

Located west of town, not far from the Eco Hotel Piedemonte, Rancho San Antonio would also make a good choice for those wanting some peace and quiet to relax near Salento.

A family run business, it’s got a pretty and neat looking grounds and courtyard with gorgeous surrounding scenery.

There is even a small pool with a mini waterfall!

The rooms here are also very nice looking. I think this would make for an especially good choice for families or couples looking for a Salento hotel.

10. Terrazas de Salento – Great Views on the Edge of Town

Terrazas de Salento is located in a lovely house near the northern edge of Salento. It’s located on a really lovely property with some pretty green space and the obligatory nice views of the surrounding countryside.

The inside is even prettier though!

Both the common areas and the rooms at this Salento hotel are tastefully decorated and cozy.

You’ll love the view of town from the garden, perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee!

11. Hotel Salento Real Eje Cafetero – Best Value Salento Hotel

I wanted to close out this list with a final Salento hotel in town and one that is fairly budget friendly.

Hotel Salento Real Eje Cafetero isn’t the cheapest hotel in Salento, but it’s in my opinion, one of the best overall values. It’s got a great location right in the heart of town.

The inside central courtyard area is really pretty. Most importantly, the rooms look nice and cozy. There is also a nice little bar and restaurant on the terrace that has a great sunset view.

In other words, it would make another great choice for accommodations in Salento, and therefore rounds out this list of the best Salento hotels.
